Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued substance.
The fluid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then located numerous other smeared cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Police report preliminary tests show the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to its source; authorities are not yet cognizant of any harm in association with the event," they commented.
City officials stated they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the community for tips.
A senior representative commented the incident left him stunned and required to be addressed promptly.
"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on online, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
